At the Heart of Rhonda our WeGrowMinistry.com founder

Recently Rhonda had an interview about the initiatives of WeGrowMinistries.com for 2013 and a bit of the history of the ministry organization. There’s a lot of great things going on with WeGrowMinistries.com.  We thought we’d share them with you.

Could you tell me more about your conferences and your Third Thursdays with KidMin Mentors?

My heart with KidMin Mentors and Cultivate is to get

resources and help as well as encouragement to those in the trenches who are trying their hardest to fulfill the calling they’ve answered.
Many children’s and youth ministers are part time, volunteer or bi-vocational and will not have the opportunity to go to big, far away conferences. So, God put it on my heart several years ago to bring equipping and empowering people and resources to them so they can find the encouragement they need to keep growing (personally and within the ministry role they lead). With nearly 20 years of youth and children’s ministry, regardless of how gratifying it is to be in God’s will and serving His people, I know it is not easy.

The idea with the KidMin Mentors, is to provide a free training and networking opportunity. It is designed to be low-key so people can come with questions to be talked about around a table with people they will see again. People who can become a built in support system when inspiration and resource swapping is needed. I plan to bring resources to put in the hands of these amazing ministers but I’m going so I can learn too! People in ministry are so creative and resourceful. I love hearing what people are doing for the work of the Lord.

What if others are interested in joining the ministry team efforts…

As far as being included on the Cultivate team or KidMin Mentor or a consultant as a voice of influence; we are always looking for great people who have a passion to empower, encourage and equip people to reach their God-given goals.
We’re looking for speakers, administrative support, writers, team leaders, communication partners… whoever God sends, we will do our best to place them in a role that meets their gifts as well as personal boundaries (we care about the person; not just what he/she can do for the Lord).

How long have you been running your online ministry, with the workshops and conferences?

2013 STRETCH Cultivate

2013 STRETCH Cultivate

The ministry organization was started in Nov 2009…The website was launched by early March of 2010 and Cultivate conferences were on the calendar by the fall of 2010. IT WAS A WHIRLWIND of action. We began loading the website with written submissions… But with the growth of the ministry (and my family!- we have 4 kiddos) last year I had to make several tough decision on where to give my attention and time. I was spread pretty thin and doing all this on maybe 10 hours a week. I opted to let the website chill for a bit and focus on Cultivates because it seemed to give the greatest outflow of influence for the time invested (uh… just realized I was giving a lot more than you probably needed.).

This year God has called me to get busy again, (S-T-R-E-T-C-H -Isaiah 54:2-3) and this time He would send more people my way to help carry the load. We’re excited! And people are coming… just amazing. This year we’re adding a team member, Paul Kenneson who is taking the leadership development initiatives to a whole new level. Tiffany, our social network partner is adding her children’s ministry consulting platform to our offerings. (We’re still looking for specific positions to be filled though- pray for WeGrowMinistries.com if we cross your mind!) You see people are gifted and called to do something for God… WeGrowMinistries.com has the wonderful honor of providing an opportunity for people to use their gifts! We’re trying to help people find the activity of God and use their gifts regardless of church affiliation or denominational choice.

I have one more question for you: What are your passions in children’s ministry?
-There are a handful of topics that really get me stoked: (Probably in this order.)
The health of the minister and healthy ministry balance (Because I constantly have this topic in front of me personally.)
-The overlooked potential of the nursery and early childhood ministries.
-Kids and the presence of God. So many kid’s ministers don’t create the opportunity for kids to feel and experience the presence of God in worship and prayer. I have seen kids touched and changed because an environment and moment was created.
-Kids and ministers serving in their sweet spot. I love to help kids, teens (and adults) start using their gifts for the Lord as early as possible. There are no age limits for using the gifts of the Lord.
